The Heart Behind Us

Heart & Co. was created because of a miracle,

a story I was blessed to step into when he had just turned three.

Before I met him, he had already survived what doctors believed he never would.

He was diagnosed before birth with a critical form of congenital heart disease,

along with pulmonary hypertension and several other complications that made survival unlikely.

Doctors didn’t say his chances were low.

They said he would not live to see his first birthday.

They fully expected him not to survive.

But his dad refused to accept that ending.

He fought for the best care, pursued every possible door,

and held onto faith when every report said there was none.

His persistence led to a life-saving surgery,

one God used to completely change the story.

When I came into his life, he had just turned three.

He was fragile, often sick, and still facing challenges no child should ever know,

yet he carried a quiet strength that didn’t match his small, tired body.

I cared for him as my own.

I loved him through every setback and every step forward.

And as the years passed, I became part of his miracle too.

Today, he is thirteen,

brave, joyful, resilient, and still overcoming developmental delays

with the same determination that carried him through his earliest battles.

Every day of his life is proof that God still works in places

where hope was never supposed to exist.

Heart & Co. was created to honor him,

the miracle that wasn’t supposed to survive,

the child who fought when the world said he couldn’t,

and the testimony God continues to write.
